An annual walking event to support critically ill newborns at Royal Berkshire Hospital has called for more people to sign-up - as the there is just one month to go before the event.
The Walk For Wards event - run by the Royal Berks Charity - is set to take place at the Mapledurham Estate on Sunday, September 29.
Money raised by participants will support the Buscot Ward at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, where critically-ill newborns receive specialised care.
The collaboration with Babies in Buscot Support (BIBS) ensures that every pound raised will go directly towards enhancing the care and facilities for some of the hospital’s most vulnerable patients.
Every step you take at ‘Walk for Wards’ brings us closer to our goal of purchasing new incubators for the Buscot Ward. These incubators are crucial for providing life-saving care to newborns in our community, ensuring they have the best possible start in life.
Participants can choose from 5 kilometres, 10km, or 15km routes by contributing £10, or participate in the new 2km Scavenger Hunt for £5.
Jo Warrior, Charity Director for Royal Berks Charity, said: "We are incredibly excited to see our community come together for such a meaningful cause.
"This event is not just about raising funds; it’s about showing support for the tiniest patients at our hospital and ensuring they receive the best care possible."
There’s still time to sign up - you can register at www.royalberkscharity.co.uk/walkforwards to secure your spot.
