A young media student who was struck and killed by a train as it passed through a station had to be identified by his fingerprints, a coroner heard today/yesterday (Wed).
Dylan Nyoni, aged 23 years, was positively identified by a fingerprint bureau technician, called in following the death.
A post-mortem examination was conducted by a pathologist and the provisional cause of death was given as multiple injuries at the inquest opening into his death in Reading, Berks on Wednesday, August 7.
Assistant Berkshire Coroner Hannah Godfrey said: "Dylan was in a collision with a train and that is what caused the multiple injuries.
"Because this is clearly an unnatural death, there must be an inquest into his death and how he came by his death."
Mr Nyoni, from Rodway Road, Tilehurst, Reading, died at Tilehurst Railway Station on May 10 this year.
Coroner Ms Godfrey, speaking at Reading Coroner's Court today/yesterday (Wed), expressed her condolences to Mr Nyoni's mother, who attended the hearing.
The coroner said: "Can I say first of all how sorry I am. One can only look at the brief details here to see how difficult this is for you."
No date was set for a future inquest. However, the coroner said it was likely to take place early next year.
