RAIL passengers are being warned to expect delays heading into rush hour after a fault on the Reading line.

South Western Railways has warned of delays after a safety inspection around midday of the track at Earley blocked the line towards Reading.

The rail firm warned trains may be cancelled, delayed, or revised as a result, and said for passengers to expect delays up to 4pm.

It confirmed that the line has now reopened after the safety inspection however at a reduced speed. Trains can now serve Winnersh, Winnersh Triangle, Earley, and Reading, however delays and cancellations still likely.

Tickets can be used on alternatives services including Great Wester Railway between Windsor and Eton Central and Slough, and the Elizabeth line between Slough and Reading.

Tickets can also be used on Reading Buses 3 between Reading and Wokingham, and Reading Buses 4 and X4 between Reading, Earley, Winnersh, Wokingham, and Bracknell.
