A man who stole an array of bizarre items from the same shop in Shinfield has been handed a suspended sentence.
Jonathon Whitnall, 49, of Castle Street, Reading, targeted the same Co-op branch repeatedly between June and August 2023.
He appeared before Reading Magistrates' Court on April 15 this year, where he pleaded guilty on eight counts of theft from a shop and one of failing to surrender to court bail.
The court heard of how Whitnall stole a series of unusual items - including Ben & Jerry's ice cream, confectionery and prosecco.
On June 25 last year, he stole two bottles of wine and six bottles of liquid gel - while on July 29, he stole meat, milk and ice cream.
Magistrates jailed Whitnall for 26 weeks, suspended for 12 months.
He must complete 25 days of rehabilitation activity - and has been banned from entering the Shinfield Co-op for six months.
