A bank is slashing its opening hours to cope with changing demands - including the regular hours of its Reading branch.
TSB on Broad Street in Reading currently operates a regular 9am to 5pm opening time - opening a little later on Wednesday (10am) and closing earlier on a Saturday (1pm). As with most banks, TSB does not open on Sundays.
Now TSB has announced that their opening hours will change from August 30.
In the Reading branch review, TSB state: "The way customers bank with us is changing. Over 95 per cent of transactions are now being made using mobile, online and other ways to bank, instead of in our branches.
"And more customers than ever are using our Video and Telephone Banking service.
"We remain committed to face-to-face services across the country, and over 90 per cent of our customers are within a 20-minute drive to a branch, or location of a Money Confidence Expert.
"But we want our services to reflect the current and future needs of our customers, so we're adjusting the hours of our quieter branches so we're open when customers use the branch most.
"And we'll be using the additional time when we're not open to support customers in other ways."
As a result, the closing times from Monday to Friday have been cut by an hour, from 5pm to 4pm.
