Several armed response officers rushed to a property in Sonning Common after a disturbance at a home on Shiplake Bottom Road.

The police were originally spotted in Sonning Common by neighbours around 4:30 pm on Sunday, May 12.

Following the disturbance in the house, police have reported that the man - thought to be carrying a knife – locked himself inside a shed.

Alongside armed police, negotiators also attended the property in Sonning.

The Chronicle attended the scene in Sonning Common around 9 pm on Sunday, May 12 where armed police were parked at the Peppard War Memorial Hall getting ready to depart after the man was detained on suspicion of criminal damage.

A spokesperson from Thames Valley Police said: “No one was injured as a result of the incident.  The man remains in custody at this time. We would like to thank the public for their patience.”

Police were spotted escorting people into the property at 9 pm on the night of the incident.
