IN CELEBRATION of Gardening Week the residents of Shinfield Care Home have been rolling up their sleeves to get planting seeds.
Four 'seed bomb' kits have been donated to the care home by housebuilder Dandara to mark the holiday celebrated between April 29 and May 5.
This year’s gardening week theme is ‘Knowledge is Flower’ and is held to raise awareness of the difference that gardening can make in the lives of everyone.
The donation has encouraged care home residents to get stuck into the outdoor activities as warmer months approach. The kits benefit from 27 different types of pollinator friendly wildflowers, helping to enhance biodiversity in outdoor areas.
Shinfield Care Home events manager Laura McSoley said: “We’re delighted to have received the donation of seed bombs for gardening week. This has greatly assisted us in expanding our garden space and our members thoroughly enjoyed planting the seeds and are looking forward to nurturing the garden and watching the flowers bloom.”
