Reading is set to be a busy weekend – and people are being urged to plan ahead if they are heading to visit the town.

The Reading half marathon on Sunday, April 14 is expected to make Reading town centre and roads surrounding Reading busier this weekend.

Although the main route within Reading town centre will be closed from 7am to 4pm, drivers will be able to use surrounding routes to find their way to convenient parking when travelling across and into the town.

Around 55 roads will be closed between 7 am and 9 am on Sunday morning meaning other routes will see a pile-up of traffic until the late afternoon.

The event will start and end at the SELECT STADIUM. Some road closures will begin as early as 7 am and others won’t start until later that morning (9 am).

Numerous supporters are also expected to be making their way to Reading to cheer on their friends and family on the half-marathon route along the way.

This may mean that Reading may see a huge influx of shoppers to the town centre as they wait for their loved ones to pass on the route.

As the roads open at 4 pm, drivers have been warned to expect queues of traffic flowing out of the town as thousands of marathon runners and their families make their way home.
