Reading midfielder Harvey Knibbs surprised 35 children from the local area at an Easter holiday session.

The Reading Community Trust put on hundreds of events throughout the year, including holiday camps to keep children entertained and build a relationship with their football club.

Summer signing Knibbs, who has already scored 15 goals for the Royals this season, met the participants and took part in a question-and-answer session.

As part of the Government's Holiday and Food Programme, all in attendance received a healthy meal of chilli and rice.

He even brought some to tears when he arrived and joined in a game of dodgeball!

After having shirts, boots and phone cases signed, all participants were gifted an Easter-themed goodie bag stuffed with sweet treats.

Speaking to the media in attendance after the fun event, Knibbs commented: "They’re really important, it just gives kids good opportunities to have some activity for the day- not just football but rounders and dodgeball. It’s important for the parents as well, they can have a day where they don’t have to look after their children or put food on their plates as it’s all provided for here really. It’s six hours of their day where they can be active and think about what foods they should be eating.

"I remember going to the soccer schools and I’d always look forward to being the best trainer. I can see lots of competitive spirit here and it’s been really good to see."
