An award-winning hair salon is set to celebrate its twentieth year in Reading after breaking the mould within the fashion, hair, and art scene across the globe.

Founded by Mark Woolley 22 years ago, Electric Hair, is a brand that delivers world-class hairstyling across the London, Reading and Brighton, alongside their work in a variety of high-fashion publications and events around the world.

After establishing his Brighton and London salons, Electric Hair was opened in the current King’s Street location in 2004.

Throughout the last two decades, Mark has amassed a range of celebrity clients and made a significant impact in the Reading hair and business scene alongside his team.

As members of the Reading business community came together to celebrate their successes, Mark spoke about his passion for developing his brand in Reading and what the future will look like for this ‘electric’ brand.

He said: “We’ve built a fantastic team that’s been here for many years and we felt it was about time, since we’ve been here since 2004, to completely remodel our salon.

“What we hope is that this will create a hub where we can reach out to the business community, people can come here for events, and we’ll have a bar as well in true electric style.

“We really want to use our twentieth year here in Reading to reach out to the local community and strengthen our relationship.

“It’s all about the atmosphere being electric and everyone feeling welcomed and inclusive in that.”

Alongside the hairstyling services, ‘Electric Hair’ is also known for manufacturing their own hair products at the head office in the Sussex countryside, where they grow some of their ingredients.

Although their work amasses across several countries, Mark said that he takes pride in calling the UK the companies' hub.

The re-design of their Reading salon includes plans to create a more social environment that can be transformed into any sort of event space or photography studio.

This comes after the redevelopment of their Soho location into a state-of-the-art salon, film/photography studio, and cinema.

Mark added: “One of the things that has inspired me about Reading is that there is an amazing community and everyone’s very proud of the town. I really felt that, especially when I went to last year’s Pride of Reading Awards. I left thinking there’s some real trailblazers at the head of it.”

Mark Wooley has amassed a huge celebrity following over the last 22 years, welcoming stars such as Jude Law, Paloma Faith, Sienna Miller and Kate Moss into his salons.

His work regularly appears in leading publications across the globe and is frequently used as an expert on trends and industry topics and a regular contributor to global television.
