A convenience store selling alcohol, snacks and groceries has opened opposite a busy pub in Reading.

King Food & Wine in King’s Road was seen open for the first time in April.

The convenience store has opened after its operators Jiyana Food & Wine won permission to operate as an off licence last November.

The company specialises in the sale of Asian, Romanian and Polish food and drinks, which can be sold from 7am to 11pm each day.

As well as alcohol, snacks and other convenience items, it also sells fresh fruit and vegetables which can be seen in front of the store.

King Food & Wine is located immediately opposite The Back of Beyond Wetherspoon pub, a popular place where punters enjoy real ales, cocktails and a wide range of pub food.

The store operators took over the premises at 91-93 Kings Road after its previous occupiers the Pack & Send posting business closed down in 2021.
