Local people and families came together in Earley for Reading Comic-Con, a day-long celebration of fandom.

The event was held today (April 6) at the Loddon Valley Leisure Centre.

There was an array of displays and stalls for visitors to enjoy.

The organisers billed the day as a family-friendly, all-community event.

They stated: "There is lots to see and do, including out of this world displays and props, traders selling out of this world collections, meet celebrities from TV and the movies!"

Many attendees came in costume, in ode to their favourite films, games and series.

Richard Curtis, from Reading, came dressed as a Ghostbuster with his two children, Arthur and Florence.

Mr Curtis said: "It's nice to see so many people with a mutual interest hanging out together, getting to chat, getting to network, getting to see different stalls, different experiences.

"It's brilliant."

Also at hand were actors from a number of much-loved films, who signed autographs and posed for photos.

Amon these was Tessa Peake-Jones, known for her role as Raquel in Only Fools and Horses.

She told the Reading Chronicle: "It's really nice to be here in Reading. I always like watching all the costumes - people have made such an effort."
