A Portuguese cafe and sandwich bar is gearing up to open along one of the busiest roads in Reading.

The DeNata Coffee & Co business is preparing to open its doors along the busy Oxford Road as a new venture by a Portuguese couple.

DeNata will serve hot and cold drinks, homemade sandwiches, soup, sweets and more to guests when it opens.

Business owner Ana Dias said: “Our sales in the morning are going to be focused on  Portuguese tart, other Portuguese patisseries and specialty coffee drinks.

“Then, from 11am  we are going to have homemade soup and homemade sandwiches that will be nice and filling, along with sweet treats like waffles and milkshakes.”

Mrs Dias said: “We have applied to sell alcohol to give people the option to drink beer or wine if they want.”

She has set up the cafe and sandwich bar with her husband.

Prior to taking over the premises, it was occupied by the shortlived Time 4 Coffee business.

Before that, 377 Oxford Road was home to the AJV Portuguese and Brazilian convenience store, which ran from 2020 to 2023.
