Police have asked for the public's help to track down a 39-year-old man who failed to return to a Buckinghamshire prison after being let out on day release.

Edward Parker, 39, did not return to HMP Springhill in Aylesbury on Saturday (January 27) after being granted day release, prompting Thames Valley Police to issue a public appeal in the hopes of tracking him down.

Parker is described as a white man of around 5 ft 7 ins and average build, with short brown hair, blue eyes and a scar on his lower left arm.

He was last seen wearing a green ribbed puffer jacket, a navy jumper, light grey Puma tracksuit bottoms and black trainers.

The 39-year-old is reportedly known to frequent the Chesterton and Peterborough areas of Cambridgeshire.

Police Staff Investigator Claire Busby has urged any member of the public with information about Parker's whereabouts to come forward.

She also warned people not to approach the escaped prisoner if he is sighted, but to instead call 999 immediately.

Anyone with information about Parker can contact Thames Valley Police by calling 101 and quoting reference number 43240043014.

Alternatively, anonymous reports can be made to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
