A person has been pronounced dead after emergency services were called to train tracks at Hungerford.

At 10am this morning, emergency services rushed to Hungerford Railway Station after reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Great Western Railway warned commuters of ongoing cancellations and delays due to the incident. A spokesperson said: "Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident between Reading and Westbury, all lines are blocked.

"Train services running to and from these stations will be cancelled, delayed or diverted between Reading and Westbury. Disruption is expected until 1pm."

A British Transport Police spokesperson said: "Officers were called to Hungerford railway station just after 10am today (24 January), following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene. Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances leading up to their death." 

The train line was reopened shortly before 3pm.
