Plans have been submitted for 32 flats to be created at a former hotel in Padworth.

The site along the A4 Bath Road was once used as the Comfort Hotel and venue.

But years afterwards it was converted into the FlexiStay aparthotel serviced apartments.

Now a developer want to knock down the existing buildings on the site to provide 32 long-term residences contained within two new buildings.

Of those, 24 would have two bedrooms and eight would have one bedroom, with one building containing 22 flats and the other containing 10.

But the planning documents state that the viability assessment concludes that the development costs mean it should not have to contribute to affordable housing.

That assessment reviews how much the values and costs of the development will add up to.

It goes on to say that the proposed three-storey development will contribute towards the council’s housing supply by providing appropriate housing in a sustainable location.

Vehicular access to the site will remain unchanged, but there will be increased parking.

The proposal means the existing hotel building will be demolished and replaced with two blocks of flats and landscaping.
