Roadworks causing serious delays on the Bath Road will be finishing several days early according to officials at Reading Borough Council.

On Tuesday, December 5, multi-way traffic lights were put in place to control traffic as the council carried out minor enhancements to the cycle network.

Although the council originally stated that the roadworks would remain in place until Tuesday, December 12, they have announced that it will be finished by tomorrow (8/12).

Reading Borough Council said: “These works are minor enhancements to the National Cycle Network (NCN) route 422 in Reading Borough from the A4 Bath Road (where it joins the scheme in West Berkshire) to the A329 Wokingham Road in the east, (where it joins the scheme in Wokingham).

“The scheme provides an enhanced east-west cycle facility through Reading, linking to existing cycle routes to the north and south. Work began on Tuesday 5 December and is now set to be completed tomorrow (Friday), several days earlier than scheduled.

“This is in advance of further Active Travel cycle works on the Bath Road which will take place between the junctions with Berkeley Avenue and Castle Hill, scheduled for spring 2024.”
