THE number of E-Scooter-related injuries across the Thames Valley area has increased in the last three years.

New data shows how many injuries were reported to Thames Valley Police as a result of E-scooter incidents in each of the previous three years.

In 2020, the number of E-Scooter injuries in the area was 18, four per cent of the total of accidents across the UK.

A year later, in 2021, the number of cases increased to 26 in the Thames Valley Area. It was only 2.8 per cent of the total accidents across the UK, meaning the number across Great Britain increased.

In 2022, the number of cases increased again to 63 per cent, again being four per cent of the total accidents across the UK.

The worst area for accidents last year was the Metropolitan Police area with 379 accidents, making up 25 per cent of the total accidents across the UK.

Durham, Lincolnshire and North Wales only had one accident last year while West Yorkshire had zero accidents.

E-Scooters are legal to buy in the UK but they are not legal to ride on public roads unless you have the correct licence and follow road traffic regulations – as part of a trial.
