Home Bargains has become something of an institution in Britain and has attracted an almost cult-like following from fans of the discount brand.

So it is no surprise that news of a bigger and better branch in Whitley has been met with widespread joy and excitement.

Home Bargains is opening in Whitley on Saturday, September 23. 

Doors will open at 8am with queues aexpected from people looking to be the first to have a look round.

How much did the new store cost?

Home Bargains has spent £1million to improve and updated its Reading2 store at Brunel Retail Park, Reading, which will be officially opened at 8.00 am on Saturday 23rd September, 2023.

The opening hours will be the same as its Reading branch in Rose Kiln Lane.

How many jobs have been created? And are there any going?

Home Bargains is creating 82 new jobs as part of opening this new store and employing a total of 93 team members, some of whom have transferred from the existing store in Reading.

What can you expect from the new store? 

A spokesman for Home Bargains said the giant store - around 30,386 sq. ft in size - will offer shoppers a range of products, including homewares, health and beauty essentials, sweets, snacks and drinks, as well as fresh and frozen food. The Reading 2 store will also be home to a Home Bargains bakery, café and garden centre.

The new Whitley store is the second Home Bargains store in Reading.

How many branches does Home Bargains have and why is it so popular?

Home Bargains has around 600 outlets across the UK. At the moment, the company is on track to open around 50 stores a year.
