The Oracle shopping centre has released a statement regarding safety measures taken following the inquest of a champion race car driver who jumped off the top of the town centre car park on New Year’s Day.
This comes after several incidences of welfare have occurred at the Oracle Riverside car park throughout the years.
The latest incident happened when Mark Patrick Flaherty, 59, of Church Lane, Ascot, drove his black Land Rover Defender to the car park in Reading. CCTV footage showed the race car champion arrive at the Riverside car park and make his way to the top of the building.
A spokesperson from The Oracle has highlighted their commitment to creating a safe and secure environment for their visitors through ongoing health and safety reviews together with a programme of planned preventative inspections and measures.
Owners have said that they ensure that all measures are in line with industry guidelines and regulations.
The shopping complex added: “Our community outreach also includes working closely with key stakeholders including Reading Council, Thames Valley Police and Mind Berkshire to further support the wellbeing of our visitors.”
