Dog owners across Bracknell Forest have shared their views on the number of parks that are considered dog-free zones in Winkfield.

The village near Ascot is a small and tight-knit community that has a vast number of recreational parks and green spaces.

Following the reiteration of a long-standing dogs-free rule in certain recreation grounds, there have been mixed views about whether this is the best way to keep people and other dogs safe.

Laura Thomas said: “It's a high-traffic area with owners unknowingly taking their nervous dog to an over simulating place and adding dogs and kids running around.

“I think it's very dangerous plus what about the working dogs, other dogs distract them from the job and they could miss an alert that could be fatal. Or a guide dog, plus there is more chance of a dog fight including attacking service dogs which means the owner will be without the aid they rely on so much.

“There is good reasons why dogs don't go into all shops and places. People with service animals need to feel the dog can do the job safely and a city centre should be that place where dogs shouldn't go into all shops.

“There are places for dogs and kids. You also don't see service animals in these dog-friendly places.”

One reader, Ali Gilbert said that he thinks that dog parks should be introduced to Bracknell and surrounding area, ensuring that children are safe and dogs can p-lay freely.

This was however not a popular opinion among readers.
