A train track fire between Didcot Parkway and Reading is causing major disruption for passengers this morning (9/9). 

The fire, which was reported next to the track between Didcot Parkway and Reading is affecting train lines including the Elizabeth Line to Abbey Wood and the Great Western Railway to London Paddington.

Services are expected to be delayed up to 60 minutes or canceled until 11 am.

A spokesperson from National Rail said: “A fire next to the track between Didcot Parkway and Reading means that all lines are currently blocked.

“As a result, some trains in the Reading area may be canceled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.”

Other major lines that are affected due to the incident include the CrossCountry between Oxford and Bournemouth / Southampton Central and GWR between Oxford and London Paddington.

Customers have been advised that if this has a major impact on their journey, they may apply for compensation.

National Railway states: “You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.
