A LOST dog has been reunited with it's owner after a police officer cycled it to the vet.

The Chihuahua was handed to a tactical cycle officer on Sunday (August 27) near the Reading Festival site on Richard Avenue.

After the dog refused to walk, the officer picked it up and cycled it to the nearest vet so the microchip could be scanned.

The dog was returned with its owner within an hour.

Posting about the incident on Facebook, Thames Valley Police said: "Yes, your eyes aren't deceiving you, that is one of our tactical cycle officers carrying a Chihuahua - and now one of our favourite photos.

"Two members of the public approached our officers at the festival and handed over a lost dog that they found.

"The dog didn't fancy the walk so the only option was to scoop him up so they could take him to get his microchip scanned.
