One of the UK's top independent hip-hop artists is set to perform for the first time on 'home turf' at this weekend's Reading Festival.

Following a stand-out year which has included multiple sold-out shows in both the UK and Europe and a number-one album, the Wokingham-born musician Songer will appear as a headliner on the 1 Xtra Stage.

Festival goers are expected to see him perform alongside other artists such as Kay Trapp, Lancey Foux, and Reading-born ‘Lost Girl’ on Sunday evening (27/8).

The owner of ‘Way Out’ management who represents Songer, said that they are all ‘buzzing’ to bring his music home.

Reading-born Manager, Thor Sutherland said: “This will be Songers first hometown show. We had an absolute blinding year where Songer's album Skala went to number one in the Hip Hop and R&B charts.

“We’ve done a load of festivals over the summer, and this is our last festival of the year. It’s in Reading, and because it’s our hometown it’s going to be absolutely amazing.

“Songer is absolutely buzzing. It’s going to be the biggest show of his career and it’s going to be the biggest moment for all of us so far. All our friends and family are going to be there in the crowd, as well as lots of die-hard supporters.

“There really is nothing better than doing it on your own home turf.”

Thor, who has been coming to the Reading Festival since he was 14, said that it is a full-circle moment in his career to see one of his artists as a headliner.
