New pub landlords have said that they “cannot wait to welcome everyone” following the transformation of a popular Woodley pub.

The Good Companions, located on Loddon Bridge Road, is a Greene King pub that has just received a massive overhaul to the interior and exterior of the building.

After running multiple community and family pubs in the Kent area, Leanne Childs and Shane Mason decided to move to Woodley to breathe some life into the traditional eatery.

Leanne and Shane, Franchisees of The Good Companions, said: “I cannot wait to welcome everyone into the all-new The Good Companions!

“The pub has been transformed to an extremely high standard and is beyond recognition – it really is a big upgrade.

“From great beer and drinks to a wonderful selection of food – we have got you covered for whatever you may want.

“As a community first pub, we are going to have a great range of entertainment and events on for people to enjoy. Karaoke, live music and fundraising for charity is going to be a key part of what we do.”

The interior of the pub will receive a refurbishment to all its furnishing and fittings, including new seating, benches, lighting, interior design and a new bar.

To make full use of the beer garden, the current garden will be transformed with outdoor furniture and improved landscaping. Covered outdoor seating will also be available for guests in any weather.

The food offered at The Good Companions will include traditional pub classics such as fish and chips, burgers, Pies and tapas-style plates for snacking.

The pub will have regular offers including a 2-4-1 Burger Night, Steak and Wine Night, plus Pizzas and more.

Alex De Araujo, Business Development Manager for Greene King Pub Partners, said:

“I am delighted with our £490,000 investment in The Good Companions. The pub has been given a new lease of life and it’s a really exciting time for Leanne & Shane as franchisee and the local community who will use this pub.”
