A gift business based in Reading has applied to dispatch alcohol to its customers from its headquarters in the town.

Drayton Gifts, based at 472 Basingstoke Road in Whitley, is known for selling a range of goods, primarily to other businesses as promotional items.

Products for sale include clothing, electrical goods and office accessories and food and drink.

While it currently sells alcoholic drinks as gifts in  hampers, an employee for the company explained that the alcohol is dispatched directly by Drayton’s suppliers.

The company has applied to sell alcohol from its headquarters from in Basingstoke Road from  9am to 5.30pm from Monday to Friday.

The employee explained that approval would allow the company to assemble hampers on site in Reading ready for them to be dispatched to customers.

Examples of hampers with alcohol Drayton has sold include a ‘beer, cheese and chocs’ hamper containing ale and a ‘glorious gourmet hamper’ containing wine.

You can comment on applications by using the licensing email, but personal details must be supplied with no assumption of anonymity.

Any request for personal details to be removed and the justification for such a request should be notified to the council’s licensing depart at the time of making the representation.
