A MUSICAL group is coming to Reading this summer to give local teens the chance to take part in its free summer sessions.

Youthsayers, a South London-based music project, is designed for 12 to 16 years old to play Jazz, afrobeat and reggae in a band setting.

The group's free music sessions will run from July 25 to July 29 from 11am to 4pm.

A spokesperson from Youthsayers said: "We welcome young people who want to develop their music skills . You don’t have to be any specific level but more importantly come with the motivation to learn and be part of a group."

Held at the Culture Mix Arts centre in Reading, the sessions are run by professionals and are available for all abilities.

Speaking about the group, one of the band members said: "When I joined Youthsayers nearly 5 years ago, I had performed in school but never in public, and I was quite shy. Playing great music together every week, and performing in public in amazing places like the Royal Festival Hall has really helped me grow in confidence and improve as a musician."

The project is funded by Arts Council England who claim to be the "national development agency for creativity and culture".
