Berkshire has some of the most stunning locations across the southeast of England that people often drive for miles to see.

From Royal castles to beautiful woodland to waterside views there is something for everyone.

A survey was conducted recently to judge where the most stylish place to live was in every county. 5,000 people were asked for their views locally and nationally.

1. Windsor

The winner of the most stylish place to live in Berkshire was Windsor. The royal town is surrounded by a sense or royalty and community with the sighting of a member of the monarchy a familiar sight.

The cobbled streets and friendly close knit high street has a mixture of high street chains, designer boutiques and independent shops. Perfect for a day out shopping.

Another benefit of the Royal borough town is the proximity to the English private school Eton, where all of the country’s top dignitaries and royalty have graduated from.

Although it is often a tourist hotspot nothing can take the air of prestige away from the quaint town.

Windsor came 24th on the national list which was topped by Lavenham in Suffolk.

2. Pangbourne

Nestling along the River Thames, Pangbourne is subject of much literary inspiration. A charming place, undeserving of being labelled Pongbourne by author DH Lawrence.

Today, Pangbourne is still a charming place, full of character, with individual shops, pubs and cafes, an ideal place to potter.

3. Maidenhead

Maidenhead is situated on the banks of the River Thames in Berkshire, close to the M4 motorway. The town lies on the famous Great Western Railway, famously designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel.

The town centre is only a short walk from the train station with all shops, restaurants and leisure facilities within a 5 minute walk.

4. Bucklebury

The charming village of Bucklebury was put on the map for being the home town of our future Queen, the Princess of Wales.

Situated on the banks of the River Pang, the early village was named after Burghild, an Anglo-Saxon princess.

5. Sonning

Often known as the celeb hideaway, the quaint village of Sonning sits just on the outskirts of Reading.

Well-known faces such as George Clooney are known to have settled down in this little patch of countryside throughout the cobble stones.

The Mill Theatre, situated in Sonning, is known for people wanting to experience dinner and a great show alongside the Thames.

A Furniturebox spokesperson said: “Windsor is the most stylish place to live in Berkshire.

“Any of the Berks locations voted by residents would have been worthy winners and show why it is such a stylish county, loved by artists, film-makers and tourists from all over the world.

“What is interesting is how many of the most stylish locations were not the most affluent places in their locality.

“Good style can be achieved whatever your budget and what marks out Berkshire's most stylish places is how they all have a timeless quality achieved over generations by the stylish people living there.

“That same sense of style is true with furniture and having a good eye for the right piece for your home is far more important than how much money you have to spend.”
