Road closures in Caversham have reportedly been extended to allow for repair of a sewer collapse and reinstatement of the site.
An extensive road closure through the town was announced two weeks ago (26/5) when Thames Water attended the site of a ‘complex’ sewer collapse on Church Street.
According to the local Labour Councillor for Caversham, Reading Borough Council received an update that the team from Thames Water have estimated a further week to complete works.
Releasing a tweet on social media, Jacopo Lanzoni said: “RBC have received an update from Thames Waters's Cappagh to confirm they have dug down on the newly found collapse and have begun the repair works.
“Their team have estimated it will take a further week (26 Jun) to complete this repair, reinstate the excavations & to clear site.”
We have contacted Thames Water and Reading Borough Council for a comment.
