A READING pub is on the market after being closed since the first lockdown.

The Earley Retreat in Lower Earley was closed on March 23, 2020, and has not reopened, meaning that is has been closed for more than three years.

Its three year closure lead to speculation about the future of the pub restaurant from neighbours in the area.

The fully licensed pub with separate living accomodation is on the market with a final offers deadline of Friday, August 19.

Savills Letting Agents describe the Earley Retreat as a two storey public house located 4 miles south east of Reading and 5 miles northwest of Wokingham. The property is on a mixed use development and is surrounded by retail, commercial and leisure centre operators.

The Earley Retreat is listed as ‘permanently closed’ on Google. It was run as a Sizzling pub brand, which is one of the many brands Mitchells & Butlers owns, which include Miller & Carter steakhouses, All Bar One, Harvester restaurants, and O’Neill’s.

The current rateable value (estimate of what it would cost to rent a property for a year) was assessed at £38,500.

The property is being sold by Savills.
