1. B&M to move and expand one of its Reading branches
A DISCOUNT store is set to expand one of its Reading stores as part of a retail park's redevelopment.
B&M will be moving to a bigger site on Brunel Retail Park, in Rose Kiln Lane, as the shopping area undergoes a transformation.
Reading Borough Council approved planning permission to knock down the retail park to make way for a logistics park two years ago.

2. England international and former Reading FC target released
FORMER England international and Reading target Theo Walcott has announced his departure from Southampton.
The Berkshire-raised winger, who previously played for Newbury, made his name at Arsenal.
Playing over 300 times for the Gunners, and picking up nearly half a century of caps for England, the 34-year-old has been at Southampton since 2021.

3. Liverpool youngster set for Aberdeen return, reports suggest
Reading are set to miss out on Liverpool youngster Leighton Clarkson, according to reports.
The 21-year-old has spent the last season on loan with Aberdeen in the Scottish Premiership, picking up five goals and eight assists at Pittodrie.
The Daily Record report that the England youth international has a 'broad agreement' in place with the Dons, but the Royals were keen on bringing him south of the border.

4. Bournemouth Beach: Reading man tried to rescue girl, 12, who died
A READING man has spoken of how he desperately tried to save a 12-year-old girl who died in a tragic incident at Bournemouth beach.
The girl, from Buckinghamshire, died alongside a 17-year-old boy from Southampton, after the incident happened on May 31.
Eight other children were also injured in the incident after getting into trouble in the water, as the beach was packed out during half term.

5. Work begins on new secondary school in Reading
Work has begun on building a new secondary school in Reading ahead of an expected opening date next year.
The River Academy is currently being built in Richfield Avenue near the Rivermead Leisure Centre and the Reading Festival site on the southbank of the Thames.
Once complete, a total of 1,500 pupils will be educated at the school, including special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) provision and 300 places for sixth form students.
