Changes are set to be made to a bank in Reading and details for a church project have been submitted this week.

Both of these applications relate to sites in Tilehurst, with the bank being located along the main street in the village, and the church project being undertaken to the rear of a main route through the area.

Elsewhere, an old meeting room owned by a housing company could be turned into a home.

Details for Tilehurst church project (230347)

The Gate church community has submitted further details for its ongoing project to build a new church at 384 The Meadway, Tilehurst.

The church is currently under construction, with the site being secured and worked on by builders when the Local Democracy Reporting Service visited.

The project was approved by the council late in 2019.

Submitted details relate to biodiversity enhancements, details of external lighting that will be affixed to the building and how refuse will be managed.

Changes to NatWest bank (230452)

NatWest has applied to make changes to its branch at 74 School Road in Tilehurst.

The bank has applied to remove the external ATM and night safe at the branch.

No justification for why NatWest has applied for this measure has been submitted yet.

Replacement of garages with maisonettes (230455)

Here a plan has been submitted to demolish garages which appear to be abandoned and replace them with one new building containing two maisonettes.

The application site is 59 Corwen Road, which is also in Tilehurst.

Each maisonette would contain one bedroom.

A previous outline plan, reference 221252, was refused in December due to a lack of information about affordable housing contribution and  that plan failing to demonstrate how it would comply with the council’s parking standards.

Conversion of meeting room into home (230286)

Co-op Homes, a housing company has applied to convert a meeting room in Rowdell Drive Whitley into a one bedroom home.

The proposal involves converting the  south west meeting room as a bedroom, knocking down a partition wall and creating an accessible bathroom for a future occupant.

A plan for the same building, reference 221788, was submitted but withdrawn by Co-op Homes in January.
