A NUMBER of defendants have been jailed in March after appearing in Reading Crown Court for sentencing.

Here are a few that were jailed for their offences:

William Forbes, 73, of Westwood Green in Cookham pleaded guilty to one count of fraud by false representation and was jailed for 27 months on March 23.

He was the director of a house building company which built two £750k homes on soil contaminated by lead.

Forbes sent a false soil sample to the National House Building Council (NHBC) pretending the soil had been replaced – making the homes worthless as they cannot be sold.

The soil ranged from 33mg of lead per kg of soil to 1,732mg of lead per kg of soil. The guideline is 157mg of lead per kg of soil.

Kayden Williams, 19, of Don Close in Tilehurst, was found guilty of attacking two teenage girls, aged 15 and 16, on August 4, 2022 in Coronation Square.

He was found guilty of causing grievous bodily harm with intent after a three-day trial. He had previously pleaded guilty to one count of causing grievous bodily harm and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. 

Williams was sentenced for four and a half years in a young offenders institute on March 24.

Bradley Holloway, 32, of Rupert Square, Reading, was found guilty of two counts of rape of a six-year-old girl that he committed when he was between the ages of 13 to 15. 

The Reading man committed sexual offences ‘every Sunday’ and would 'offer to buy her toys' if she didn't tell anyone. 

Eighteen years after the offence, Judge Hassan Khan sentenced Holloway to six years' imprisonment for one count of rape and another six years to run concurrently for the second count.

The court heard he is planning to appeal the verdict.

Charles Boraman, 22 of Nevile Close, and Cory Heath, 20, of Forest Green, both Bracknell, were sentenced at Reading Crown Court with one count of conspiring to steal motor vehicles between July and September last year.

The court heard that Boraman had pleaded guilty to theft of 24 vehicles totalling £684,265 while Heath had pleaded guilty to the theft of three totalling £99,650 on July 25, 2022.

Boraman was sentenced to six years and three months imprisonment for one count of vehicle thefts and two drug counts.

Hearth was sentenced to 18 months imprisonment suspended for two years as well as 80 hours unpaid work and rehabilitation activity needs to be completed.

Gufran Ahmed, 27, and Noor Fatima, 24, both of Slough, pleaded guilty and were found guilty respectively of plotting to set fire to the Empire Cinema at the Queensmere Shopping Centre in December 2019.

Ahmed, of The Frithe, who was 23 at the time of the incident, pleaded guilty to the charge in February last year and was sentenced to eight years and nine months imprisonment.

Fatima, who was 21 at the time of the incident, was found guilty after a trial in January this year and was sentenced to nine years imprisonment.
