A Mexican restaurant chain is opening a new store in Reading, offering guests 1,000 free burritos as part of its grand opening in the town.

Zambrero is opening its Reading store on Queen Victoria Street, between Itsu and Kokoro, on Friday, April 14, with the grand opening celebration on April 27.

The Australian chain restaurant serves Mexican classics including burritos, nachos and quesadillas.

Zambrero’s mission is to 'fight against world hunger' through its Plate 4 Plate scheme. Plate 4 Plate means every time someone purchases a burrito or bowl, Zambrero sends a nutritious meal to someone in need in the developing world.

Meals donated by Zambrero are packed, stored and distributed by Rise Against Hunger, an international hunger relief charity, through school feeding programmes.

A statement on Zambrero’s website says that by choosing to eat with them, it means your meal makes a difference.

To date, Zambrero’s have donated more than 66 million meals to those in need.

Talking of the opening, general manager of the Reading store Daniel Teleanu said: “I feel very excited about the new restaurant! Can’t wait to get started."

Vouchers will be made available soon to claim one of the free burritos at the grand opening.

You can also sign up to the Squid Loyalty & Rewards App to get your free burrito.
