Police were called to an incident at Tesco express.
The shop in Oxford Road was flooded by police this morning reportedly around 9am.
Pictures show around eight officers were at the scene alongside members of the public.
A spokesperson from Thames Valley Police said: "At around 9.15am this morning one of our officers observed a woman entering a shop who is wanted in connection of a number of thefts.
"The woman, aged 27 from Reading, was arrested on suspicion of theft."
