“Turns out dreams can come true!”

These are the words of one reader after finding out that the famous Canadian fast food restaurant will be opening its doors in its first Berkshire location.

The Canadian fast-food giant, Tim Hortons, has announced the opening of their new venue in Newbury Retail Park after a planning application was approved.

Although the new location of Newbury will stop some people from venturing out to buy their famous coffees and doughnuts, many have said that they would be happy to make the journey.

This new eatery will take over the Pizza Hut site in the West Berkshire retail park.

People from as far afield as Canada were commenting on the news which was announced last week.

One ex-pat, Tim May said: “I’m an Ex Pat (Tilehurst) living in the Canadian Rockies now for 15 yrs and trust me these are an institution in Canada.

“The coffee and doughnuts are the best.”

Asha Chaudhari and Joanne Shearer have both tagged friends saying that their dreams have come true.

This is especially true for people who have had the pleasure of tasting the original Tim Hortons coffee and mapel doughnuts in Canada.

Of course, there will always be people who are against certain eateries from appearing in a town. This often surrounds concerns around the build or potential for busier traffic that the new restaurant will draw into town.

Emma Law said: “Great yet another traffic trap!!! Bad enough only one way in and one way out of that crap hole.”

This was the original objection that was made during the planning approval stage.

However, council planners considered all factors surrounding the build and agreed the proposal could go ahead.
