Reading boss Paul Ince has warned supporters not to expect much movement in the upcoming January transfer window, but only because they aren't allowed to.

Still under a transfer embargo, and currently at their limit of 25 squad players, the management team will need to move players on if they want to bring in any fresh pairs of legs.

With the window just 10 days away, the England icon is not expecting much in the way of incomings or outgoings, but insists they are still looking around to see what they can do.

Reading Chronicle:

"It is not as if we can go and buy players, but you are still trying to plan if something does happen, because you still have to have targets," he admitted. "Looking at what we have got now, with Liam Moore coming back in, that will be a 25-man squad and unless you move someone out of that 25, you have got what you have got.

"It is not like other clubs where they can look and think, okay we can try and bring in a couple of fresh faces here, we won't have that freedom. We have 25. But we have still got to look and say if, maybe, if this happens, maybe one or two could come in, but I don't see too much happening in January, only because we are not allowed to."

As much as supporters are focussed on additional incomings, many are concerned about the potential of losing stars Amadou Mbengue and Andy Carroll.

Reading Chronicle:

Both are regulars under Ince, but both currently have their deals expiring in less than a month.

Discussing their futures, he admitted it is something the club are looking at.

"Yeah they are up in January, but we will see. Both parties want to stay, they like it here and enjoy it here. We will cross that bridge, speak to them both, see what is happening and go from there. It will be nice to keep them both, I don't see any reason why we can't, but let's just wait and see."
