Birmingham City boss John Eustace admitted his side relied heavily on goalkeeper John Ruddy in their 3-2 win over Reading.

The visiting Royals made a catalogue of errors in the first half, falling three down by the break.

However, the former England stopper was forced into a string of fine saves from the likes of Andy Yiadom, Yakou Meite and Tom Ince as Paul Ince's side proved a threat throughout.

Eventually pulling two back in the final 10 minutes, it was not enough to take anything from the game.

Speaking after the win, Eustace wanted to see improvement going forward.

Reading Chronicle:

"Our performance tonight wasn’t one of our best," he admitted. "We really relied on John [Ruddy] in that first-half, but the pleasing thing for me was that we were clinical and took our chances. John Ruddy has been fantastic for us all season.

"I thought we managed the second-half quite well and had two great chances. But in the last ten minutes there’s a lot of tired bodies out there and we didn’t defend as I would want us to, but we will look at that and hopefully learn from it."

Rueing costly errors, boss Ince agreed that the Royals' mistakes cost them, believing they were the better side in general.

"I'm not disappointed with the performance because we were probably the better team despite not winning the game, but you get punished for mistakes like that."
