Slough Town have appointed former Reading midfielder Scott Davies as their new manager, following the departure of Neil Baker and Jon Underwood.

The 34-year-old was an Academy graduate with the Royals, playing four times, before taking in spells with the likes of Wycombe Wanderers, Aldershot Town and Crawley Town.

Having two spells as a player at Arbour Park, Davies was originally made interim manager immediately following the end of Baker and Underwood’s nine-and-a-half year reign, but impressed enough to be given the role full-time.

Speaking on the appointment, the club said: “We are delighted to confirm the appointment of Scott Davies as the new first team manager of Slough Town Football Club.

“We are also delighted to confirm that Lee Togwell has been appointed as assistant manager and head coach.

“After further conversations with the board of directors, Manny Williams has decided to leave the club and he departs with our very best wishes for the future.

“We would like to wish Scott and Lee every success in their new roles, starting with this Saturday’s home match against Eastbourne Borough (1pm). We would really encourage our fantastic supporters to get behind Scott, Lee and the team, and bring friends and family to take advantage of the various ticket offers we have in place.”

Under Davies’ stewardship, Slough exited the Berks and Bucks Senior Cup- losing to Maidenhead United on penalties- but progressed in the FA Trophy after a comprehensive 3-0 win over Hanwell Town.
