Former Reading midfielder Callum Harriott has joined League Two Gillingham.

The 28-year-old played 30 times for the Royals in an injury-hit spell between 2016 and 2019, more widely known for his time with Charlton Athletic before his move to Berkshire.

Leaving Reading to join Colchester United, he spent three years in Essex until 2021.

During this time the wideman had time out of the professional game after a court case was brought against him, with the Guyana international unanimously cleared in August.

The Gills are struggling in the fourth tier, sat inside the relegation zone under Millwall legend Neil Harris.

They are just two points above bottom club Hartlepool United, but the winger is eligible for his debut in the FA Cup against Dagenham and Redbridge.

Co-Chairman Paul Fisher said: "I am absolutely delighted to welcome Callum to the Football Club, we look forward to getting him up to speed and seeing him in a Gills shirt sooner rather than later."

Harriott added: "I am hoping I can bring that magic in a game and help with goals and assists. I will always work hard; I am not too far away in terms of fitness.

"I've been training, I will build myself up so I can do what I need to do."
