Reading boss Paul Ince has hinted at some January recruits, despite the club operating under a transfer embargo.
13 players arrived at the club over the summer, filling the alloted 25-man squad, however some were youth players due to the lack of activity during pre-season.
Currently off for one month due to the World Cup, the team will have four matches before the winter window opens on January 1.
Speaking to the website, Ince said: "They’ll go away and get their rest. And when they come back, we’ll go for a training camp in Tenerife and we’ll start to have more depth in our squad with the players coming back. Some of the lads on their way back… it’ll be like having new signings!
“And maybe in January we’ll be able to get a couple more in.
“So I’m looking forward to this break… but I’m also looking forward to getting back to work!”
Operating under strict rules, with only free agents and loans allowed while all must be under a salary cap, Ince will have up to four stars returning from injury against Coventry City on Saturday, December 10.
Naby Sarr, Liam Moore, Femi Azeez, Tom McIntyre and Joe Lumley are among those nearing match action.
