Southampton have extended the contract of former Reading youth talent Diamond Edwards.
Born and raised in Berkshire, Edwards was with the Academy until the age of 16, signed a professional deal with the Saints in 2020 and was part of the set-up for pre-season.
He made his professional debut in August during the Carabao Cup clash with Cambrdige United.
His new deal is until 2025, however the midfielder is unlikely to appear this campaign after picking up an ACL injury.

“It feels good, coming from an injury and still being injured it’s very relieving to be in this position,” he said on the extension..
“This gives me more motivation and drive to keep striving forward through this tough period, but it’s also allowed me to come to terms with my injury and focus on the rehab.
“It’s good to know that the club trusts me and knows what I’m capable of, and backs me 100 per cent of the way. That security lets me focus on coming back even stronger.”
