Luton Town have named Nathan Jones' successor, with former Watford boss Rob Edwards moving between the rivals.

Edwards, who took Forest Green to League Two glory last season, lasted barely two months at Vicarage Road before being replaced by Slaven Bilic in September.

The 39-year-old joins the Hatters on a three-and-a-half year deal after Jones moved to Premier League outfit Southampton earlier in the month.

Reading Chronicle:

Reading, who were the last team to play at Kenilworth Road under Jones, drew 0-0 with the Bedfordshire side last month.

Speaking on his arrival, Edwards said: "I’m absolutely delighted to be here. It’s a really exciting opportunity to manage this great football club and I can’t wait to get started.

“From the outside, looking in at Luton Town, you see such a well-run football club, a club that’s growing, moving forward and competing at the right end of the Championship. It’s a club that did fantastically well last season and is doing so well now.

"When the opportunity opened up, straight away, you see there is a terrific group of players there and a club that’s only looking in one direction."

The former Wolves defender now has three weeks to work with his squad during the World Cup break.

Edwards will bring his side to Berkshire on Wednesday, April 19, as the season draws to its conclusion.
