Reading defenders Tom Holmes and Baba Rahman can sigh with relief as the deadline for a five-yellow card suspension has passed.

If any player accumulates five yellow cards before matchday 19, they pick up a one-match suspension.

Andy Yiadom and Mamadou Loum both missed matches in recent weeks for this rule, while Holmes and Rahman were walking a tightrope.

This means anyone who hit five yellow cards after the 2-1 defeat to Preston North End would not receive a suspension.

The next cut-off is at matchday 37, with anyone picking up 10 yellow cards before then forced to sit out two matches.

This is likely to be in March, meaning players have four months to remain on their best behaviour.

Senegal international Loum has already hit seven, while club captain Yiadom has reached six.

Naby Sarr, Amadou Mbengue, Lucas Joao, Jeff Hendrick, Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan and Nelson Abbey are the only first team memebers to have not picked up at least one booking.
