Senegal midfielder Mamadou Loum officially became the first Reading player to be called up for a World Cup in 12 years.
The on-loan Porto star has been a prominent feature for the Royals since his arrival, playing 17 times and scoring once.
With three caps to his name for his country, the squad was revealed yesterday and the former Alaves central player was included.
They will face Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the Netherlands in Group A, kicking off the tournament on Monday, November 21.
The last player to play for the club and be involved in a World Cup squad is iconic goalkeeper Adam Federici, who was part of Australia's squad in the South African World Cup of 2010.
Still yet to be confirmed are Andy Yiadom, Baba Rahman and Junior Hoilett; all of whom could play a part of Ghana and Canada.
Speaking on his induction, manager Paul Ince said: "I think it's great that people will represent Reading Football Club in the World Cup. You just hope they go, do well and come back unscathed. It's the pinnacle of any footballers career to play in the World Cup."
Ince himself featured for England at the 1998 World Cup, as well as Euro 96 and Euro 2000 among his 53 caps.
