Luton Town boss Nathan Jones admitted that he has not been surprised by Reading's start, with the two clubs level on points after 17 matches.

Losing the play-off semi-final last season, the Hatters are no longer a surprise package and sit in the top half again a third of the way through the campaign.

Paul Ince takes his Royals side to Bedfordshire tomorrow, and Jones is wary of the threat they pose.

"They play with real zest and vigour," he started. "And they have some good players. Jeff Hendrick from Newcastle, they have Lucas Joao, Tom Ince, so they have a good side. It hasn’t surprised me that they’re doing well. They did well at the end of last season and now they’re carrying that form on."

Luton did the double over Reading last season, winning 2-0 in Berkshire and 1-0 at Kenilworth Road on the final day of the season.

Also cautious of the threat Luton pose, Ince expects a different type of game to the 2-1 defeat to Burnley on Saturday.

"We know we can perform and get ourselves up for the bigger teams," he said. "We had a 2-0 result against Bristol City, should have got something here and now we go to Luton which will be a completely different game."
