Paul Ince waxed lyrical on opposition manager Vincent Kompany ahead of Saturday's meeting between Reading and Burnley.

The iconic former Manchester City captain has made an incredible start to management life in Lancashire, losing just once all season and looking a good bet to return to the Premier League at the first attempt.

First arriving on these shores in 2008, the Belgian centre-back won everything there was to win in English football, falling short in European competition.

With a similarly high standing in English football, Ince recalled first meeting the 'big legend' as Notts County manager in 2010/11 FA Cup.

"I was manager of Notts County and we played Manchester City in the FA Cup," he started. "We were 1-0 with eight minutes to go and [Edin] Dzeko scored in the 85th minute and we took it back to the Etihad. We went 1-0 up there and before we know it, we’re 5-1 down. He came into the office, and we had a nice chat.

"A really nice bloke and I’ve got a lot of time for it, good to see him doing well. His style of football is really good, he wants to play the Pep way. We know we aren’t going to have much possession. We just have to be patient and hopefully they have an off day when we have a very good day."
