At 16 matches, Reading are now one third of the way through the Championship season.

Surprising many, Paul Ince's side are still pushing the top six- sitting eighth in the division.

Take a look below at the top five performers according to Whoscored.

Reading Chronicle:

1. Tom Ince- 6.99

Reading's top goal contributor, with three goals and three assists, has quickly become a fan favourite following his permanent arrival in the summer.

Consistently picking up plaudits for his energy and pressing, he has an eye for a goal and has helped drag his team over the line in many a match.

Averaging almost a seven every week, it's easy to see why.

2. Tom Holmes- 6.77

One of the two players to play every minute of every match, the vice-captain has stepped up both on and off the field.

Still only 22, the Academy graduate is approaching 100 appearances for his boyhood club.

Lining up alongside fellow youth product Tom McIntyre, the legacy of the Academy will remain strong with the two Tom's present.

3. Yakou Meite- 6.76

Narrowly behind Holmes, having started 13 less matches this season, the Ivorian is the longest-serving outside player, now in his sixth year with the club.

Two goals in three starts and winning 4.7 aerial duals per match, the Yak is well and truly back after an injury-hit 18 months.

Fighting for places alongside Andy Carroll, Shane Long and Lucas Joao, he will have to keep up his form, to keep up his place in the team.

4. Mamadou Loum- 6.75

On loan from Porto, the central midfielder had expectations on his shoulders and has largely delivered.

One yellow card from suspension, the 22-year-old is not afraid to go in for a tackle, and he showed he could use his head too on Saturday, rising high to head home the opener against Bristol City.

A regular in the midfield alongside fellow newbies Jeff Hendrick and Tyrese Fornah, the ability to settle so fast has been clear to see with the whole raft of new signings in the summer.

5. Junior Hoilett- 6.74

An experienced performer in the Championship, the Canada international has excelled out of position in wing-back.

With a big World Cup on the horizon, the 32-year-old has surely secured his place on the plane for the Maple Leafs first world Cup since 1986.

Featuring in every match so far, he even has an eye for a goal (a la Blackburn Rovers).
