Former Reading striker Jon-Dadi Bodvarsson labelled Bolton Wanderers fans 'the best fanbase' after scoring a 98th minute winner against Burton Albion.

The Icelander joined the Royals in 2017, scoring 17 goals in 56 appearances until his move to Millwall in 2019.

Playing for the club in a disappointing spell, in which the club finished 20th both campaigns, he memorably scored a hattrick in an FA Cup clash with Stevenage.

What stuck out most was that he did so wearing two different kits, after the referee determined at half-time that the shirts clashed.

Moving to League One Bolton in January 2022, he's scored 11 in 36 matches- including a stoppage time winner over the Brewers last night.

Speaking to the media after the game, the 64-capped Iceland international dubbed the Trotters fans the best he had experienced.

"It is just the best fanbase I have had in my career,” he said. “They have welcomed me since day one as I have said a million times before. It helps me so much.

“What can you say? I don’t know what to say, really, just to get the goal in the last second of the game, nothing beats that as a football player. It is just a fantastic feeling and I still have a bit of adrenaline."

The win lifted Ian Evatt's side into fifth in the third tier, with over 16,000 in attendance.
