Former Reading and Rotherham United striker Adam Le Fondre believes Dean Holden would be a good fit as manager.

The Millers have had a strong start to the Championship season, sitting in the top half on their second tier return.

Long-serving manager, and former fan favourite on the pitch, Paul Warne left the New York Stadium last week to take over at League One giants Derby County.

Taking to social media to give his view on his the managerial race in South Yorkshire, Le Fondre tweeted: "Seen Dean Holden linked with the Rotherham job! Great leader and would really get the Rotherham way! Tough act to follow Warney but I think he’d be a great choice!!"

The 35-year-old scored 58 goals in 105 appearances for Rotherham United before joining the Royals in 2011.

Winning the Championship and Player of the Month in the Premier League, he was inducted into the Reading Hall of Fame this week for his impact in Berkshire.

Holden, recently a first-team coach with Stoke City, was manager at Bristol City from 2020 until 2021.

He is currently the favourites with the bookies, along with Grimsby Town boss Paul Hurst and Cambrdige United's Mark Bonner.
